Imprivata announced on Monday that it has completed its acquisition of SecureLink, which develops critical access management and privacy monitoring technology.
WHY IT MATTERS
The goal is to provide more value for its customers by integrating and automating SecureLink's autonomous identity systems, according to Imprivata.
Adding SecureLink to its portfolio helps address the need for a single source to enable and protect all digital identities, say company officials, from enterprise to third parties.
The two companies' combined data science capabilities will offer new tools for Imprivata customers to automate identity systems – preventing security threats while also enabling more streamlined operational efficiencies.
THE LARGER TREND
Imprivata points to research from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency showing stolen credentials as one of the primary vectors for gaining illegal access into networks, including access from supply chains and third-party vendors.
Outside vendors account for more than half of data breaches, in fact. One 2020 poll found as many as 80% of CIOs and CISOs saying they'd experienced a breach originating with a third-party vendor in the past year.
SecureLink will help Imprivata offer more secure access to on-premise and cloud apps, virtual desktops, shared mobile devices, workstations and more.
Imprivata developed its Digital Identity Framework which can help organizations with boost cybersecurity while eliminating barriers to access during trusted digital identity events. The acquisition of Secure Link "is another step closer to accomplishing that goal," according to the company.
ON THE RECORD
"If organizations are serious about securing third party identities and access, they need solutions specifically designed for the challenge," said Imprivata CEO Gus Malezis in a statement. "SecureLink uniquely addresses these critical, but often overlooked and vulnerable points of access, and we're thrilled to offer our customers the leading solution to this challenge."
"The importance of protecting digital identities has never been greater," added Patrick Tickle, CEO of SecureLink. "The combined organization creates a holistic set of capabilities that enable the secure and efficient use of digital identities, while providing visibility and control of how they are used."
