Henry Ford Health System has appointed Paul Browne CIO and Senior Vice President beginning Feb. 5.

Browne specializes in leading transformational change in complex organizations and the development of business and clinical intelligence capabilities across large enterprises.

He is currently the CIO and Senior Vice President of Applied Informatics for Tenet Healthcare, where he is responsible for all aspects of information services across the entire publicly traded healthcare system.

Before Tenet Healthcare, he served as CIO and Senior Vice President for Strategic Program Development for Trinity Health.

Browne succeeds Senior Vice President and CIO Mary Alice Annecharico, who retired at the end of 2017 after six years at Henry Ford.

Browne has extensive experience in the insurance sector, with both SelectCare and Accenture.

“That’s just one of the reasons we are so delighted to have Paul join our team,” Bob Riney, President and COO at Henry Ford, said in a statement. “Paul’s expertise with both the delivery and payer sides is a perfect match for an integrated health system like Henry Ford.”

Browne added that: “It has long been a passion of mine to harness the best advances in clinical information technology to drive better and more efficient patient care and customer service.”

Browne is a graduate of the University of Michigan with both a bachelor’s degree in economics and master’s degree in health services administration.
