Washington Regional Medical Center recognizes staff for a job well done
The Way-to-Go, or WTG, book, a compendium of compliments directed toward the IT department, keeps getting bigger and bigger at Washington Regional Medical Center.
“Whenever one of the hospital staff members sends us an e-mail saying that we did a good job, I print it out and put it in the book. That way, we can all take pride in what we do and literally focus on how we are helping everyone throughout the hospital,” said Raymon Nance, information systems director.

In addition, Nance invites “customers” from various departments throughout the hospital to come to the IT department’s monthly meetings and share how computerization is helping them better serve patients.
“Hearing these stories gives us a sense of purpose,” says Jerry Peters, applications manager. “If you’re a PC tech and you fix computers all day, it really helps to know that what you are doing is changing the way clinicians do their jobs and actually helping to improve patient care.”
