CCHIT announces new EHR certifications
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology announced today two additional ambulatory electronic health record products that achieved certified status. The panel also announced a new certification cycle that begins Tuesday.
iMedica Patient Relationship Manager 2005, version 5.1, by iMedica Corporation and Praxis Electronic Medical Records, version 3.4, by INFOR-MED Corporation underwent inspections that demonstrated compliance with CCHIT’s published criteria and received CCHIT CertifiedSM status for 2006.
In addition, two products announced earlier as pre-market, conditionally certified, have now achieved full certification status. They are MEDENT 16 by Community Computer Service and Medical and Practice Management Suite, Client Server Version 5.5, (Service Release 2.1) by LSS Data Systems. CCHIT certified the EHR component of the LSS product.
The next application period for certification of ambulatory EHR products will be Aug. 1 - 14 and the next announcement of certified EHR products is scheduled for late October.
CCHIT has opened a public comment period on its ambulatory functionality criteria for 2007; inpatient functionality environmental scan for 2007; and interoperability and security criteria for 2007 with a roadmap for 2008, 2009 and beyond. The material is posted to the CCHIT Web site (www.cchit.org ), with comments being accepted through Aug. 25.
In addition, CCHIT is currently seeking qualified candidates to serve as Commissioners for a two-year term beginning in October 2006. The application period will be open through Aug. 25. CCHIT is working under contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop, create prototypes for, and evaluate the certification criteria and inspection process for EHRs and the networks through which they interoperate.
