Vendor Notebook: Carestream wins government contract
Covisint and JVHL, a network consortium of 129 hospital laboratories located throughout Michigan, announced that they are delivering a statewide solution to automatically standardize laboratory orders and results, while still allowing physicians to use their preferred terminology and pick lists. The new tool will be made available in the coming months to Michigan's 22,000 patient care physicians through Amagine, Inc., a subsidiary of the American Medical Association (AMA), in collaboration with the Michigan State Medical Society.
Siemens Healthcare has attained ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Modular EHR Certification for Soarian® Quality Measures (SQM) v. VA57A, which enables healthcare providers to capture unstructured data from scanned or electronic text documents and paper documents, while expediting chart abstraction times. The SQM modular EHR component was certified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), an ONC-ATCB.
MacPractice, which develops practice management and clinical software for doctors’ offices on Macs, iPhones, and iPads, has announced the launch of MacPractice MD, DDS, DC, and 20/20 iPad apps. The apps streamline patient registration, saving time and reducing the risk of data entry errors, in addition to saving paper.
IOD Incorporated, a provider of integrated HIM solutions to hospitals, health systems and physician practices, announced the completion of a strategic acquisition of Confidential Copiers Inc. The combination brings a full suite of end-to-end HIM service solutions to a greatly expanded Colorado market place.
EBSCO Publishing’s evidence-based point-of-care clinical reference tool DynaMed has a new look. A new design and easier functionality are being introduced in a preview so users can explore the new features before the transition in completed in July. Some of the features include a new Spotlight area highlighting clinically relevant news and information and changes to the current Search Other Services area allowing users to easily navigate to other resources directly from DynaMed, improving access to additional information during diagnosis and treatment.
CareCloud, the company modernizing healthcare management with powerful cloud-based software and services, announced that it has been chosen as the informatics solution partner for OrthoSensor, Inc., the maker intelligent orthopedic devices. CareCloud will apply its advanced architecture and ubiquitous cloud computing platform to assist OrthoSensor in collecting and reporting specific clinical data to hospitals and surgeons.
ABILITY Network has received a $27 million capital investment from Bain Capital Ventures, the venture and growth affiliate of Bain Capital, one of the largest private equity firms in the world and Lemhi Ventures, a longstanding investor in ABILITY. This investment further validates ABILITY’s work in enabling secure use of the Internet for facilitating the exchange of health information between providers, payers, and other healthcare stakeholders.
Carestream Health announced an agreement with PenRad Technologies, of Minnetonka, Minn., to market PenRad’s patient tracking and mammography information system (MIS) to U.S. healthcare providers. PenRad systems can be seamlessly integrated with Carestream Health’s mammography workstation, which can be connected to a PACS from Carestream Health or other vendors. This upgrade is available for existing users of Carestream Health’s mammography workstation as well as with new orders.
RadSite announced that it has certified over 50,000 imaging systems located at over 20,000 imaging facilities across the United States. Since 2005, RadSite has developed and implemented the RadSite Assessment Program (RAP) to evaluate the quality and operational appropriateness of imaging practices. RadSite has a number of new initiatives underway to expand its critical mission of assessing, tracking and reporting on imaging trends.
Emdat has released an update to its popular Emdat Mobile app in order to make dictating and reviewing transcriptions remotely even easier for medical personnel. Key updates to the software include adjusted appointment sort order (patients are now sorted by their full name on the schedule screen, allowing for faster access to the needed file) and resuming of uploads (file transfers that are interrupted will be resumed automatically instead of restarting the entire upload).
Dossia has embedded HLI's Language Engine in the Dossia Health Management System, a Web-based infrastructure that aggregates users' personal health information from a variety of sources and makes that information actionable with personalized health management tools that enable users to take better control over their health and care. HLI's Language Engine will automatically translate clinical diagnosis and procedure descriptions into easily understood, consumer-friendly terms.
Sectra announced a multi-year agreement with Suffolk MRI, in Smithtown, N.Y., to deliver its web-based RIS. The RIS will be seamlessly integrated to Suffolk MRI’s existing Sectra PACS to increase radiology workflow efficiencies and patient throughput. This will enable Suffolk MRI to improve its level of service to referrers and patients.
GE Healthcare and PeriGen have united to build upon the decision support and monitoring capabilities of GE’s Centricity Perinatal suite. GE Healthcare will embed PeriGen PeriCALM Patterns in its Centricity Perinatal solution, and offer it to clinicians seeking to help improve the quality of care delivered.
Fovia Medical and BRIT Systems, a provider of PACS, RIS and teleradiology products, announced that BRIT Systems will natively integrate Fovia’s High Definition Volume Rendering technology in all of the company’s image viewers and PACS workstations. Through BRIT Systems’ browser-based viewing technology, clinicians will have 24-hour remote access to interactive advanced visualization.
