Skyscape is a free iPhone app for doctors. It combines easy-to-use features and a great visual experience for use at the point of care, while including other more in-depth resources.
Developed by Skyscape, Inc., the app features the most information of any free medical app I've encountered. It includes some great clinical decision support modules like "CheckRx", as well as other procedural guidelines for testing and surgery. The presentation of information is clear on all of its featured content, making this app very easy to navigate. Users can either view information in a horizontal or vertical view.
Skyscape is set up in a number of indexes with each organized in an alphabetical list that contains hundreds of topics and guidelines.
The most valuable features for nurses and physicians at the point of care are the two prescriptions tabs. "CheckRx" provides information of adverse drug effects. The list it provides is interactive and allows the user to select multiple drugs for ADRs. Once selected, Skyscape provides a detailed description of any possible drug interaction that could be harmful to the patient.
The second feature provides detailed summary of the drug, different names and its uses in patients care. "Rxdrugs" includes an alphabetical database of hundreds of prescription drugs.
Skyscape includes tons of detailed medical information that is organized and easily accessible, as well as a buyers portal allowing users to purchase other medical reports and studies.
Many of the features included in this app point to online resources, requiring access either to 3G or a wireless connection.
