Lightbeam Health Solutions this week announced its plans to acquire some assets related to artificial intelligence and social determinants of health from Jvion.

WHY IT MATTERS
Lightbeam, which develops analytics technology and services to help providers and payers with population health management, will buy Jvion's AI-enabled prescriptive analytics and SDOH tools for an undisclosed sum.

By adding Jvion's clinical intelligence and predictive analytics technologies, Lightbeam says it aims to bolster its own expertise in building proactive and preventive machine learning models.

The new tools will be added to Lightbeam's suite, which include CareSignal real-time population-level risk stratification.

Jvion clients, meanwhile, will now have access to that technology's deviceless remote monitoring capabilities, which can help reduce re-admissions and decrease utilization.

"For current Jvion customers and partners, your success is our success," Pat Cline, CEO of Lightbeam, said in a statement. "The combined technology and services will extend fully, and as a top priority, to our clients and partners."

With Lightbeam's CareSignal and Jvion's CORE clinical AI tools, payer and provider clients will have access to a wider array of pop health and SDOH management technologies, the companies say: data aggregation and analytics to optimize risk stratification, AI-powered predictive models to forecast patient risk, and remote patient monitoring (RPM) to help scale staffing efficiency by bringing patient screening and care management to patients where needed.

THE LARGER TREND
Among its announcements at HIMSS22 this past March, Jvion made an agreement with NTT Data, where Jvion CORE – which combines clinical, socioeconomic, environmental and behavioral data and applies sophisticated algorithms to spot unforeseen risk and inform patient-specific interventions – will integrate into NTT's Nucleus for Healthcare platform.

This past November, Lightbeam Health Solutions acquired CareSignal for its deviceless RPM technology, which uses text messages and calls to monitor patients.

In August 2021, Lightbeam President Jerry Shultz spoke with HIMSS TV about how analytics can enable actionable intelligence to improve caregiver experience and boost patient outcomes.

ON THE RECORD
"Together, Lightbeam and Jvion's technologies will bring critical, proactive, and scalable insights to populations across all types of value-based care models," Tom Zajac, executive chair of Jvion, said in a statement. "The Jvion team believes strongly in the purpose and promise of our integrated offerings, and I am excited for the Jvion team to begin this next chapter with Lightbeam."
