Health IT provider Ascom has been chosen to deliver a communications solution to Mahsa University's upcoming specialist hospital in Selangor, Malaysia. 

The 400-bed specialist hospital in Bandar Saujana Putra will leverage the Ascom Digistat, a suite of clinical workflow software and patient data management system for acute care. According to Ascom, Digistat centrally processes and analyses data from various medical devices.

The hospital will also adopt Ascom Unite, an interoperable software that integrates data and events from source systems and orchestrates alerts, chats and tasks. 

Ascom has partnered with Mastersteel Medical to install the Digistat and Unite systems at Mahsa Specialist Hospital, which is expected to open by the first quarter of 2023.

WHY IT MATTERS

Commenting on their latest contract, Ascom APAC Head of Regional Marketing Adam Jaffe noted that there is now a "demand for a platform that can orchestrate mission-critical events and provide an optimal response and workflow". The project aims to "seamlessly integrate healthcare information, generate actionable insights and enhance patient care".

Jaffe shared that deploying their Digistat and Unite platforms will contribute to better clinical workflow, reduced mobility, and alarm management.

Ascom APAC is currently working to bring the same Digistat and Unite package to a health facility in Sengkang in Singapore. 

THE LARGER TREND

Ascom continues to deliver its health IT solutions across care facilities in Asia. In October, it signed a multi-million contract to bring its Telligence Nurse Call system to an unnamed hospital in Macao. The same system is also being installed at Mayapada Healthcare's hospitals in Surabaya and Tangerang in Indonesia. 

In other news, Ascom received the European Union's Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification for Digistat Care, the alarm management component of the Digistat Suite. It is one of the early recipients of the classification for a class IIb medical device software, the second-highest risk classification under the MDR.
