Imaging vendor Ambra Health introduces cloud development platform
Ambra Health, a vendor of cloud-based medical image management tools, announced at HIMSS17 the launch of Ambra for Developers, a cloud development platform for medical imaging built around RESTful web services.
With these new APIs, IT departments at health systems and hospitals can extend imaging and imaging data into other applications such as population health or reporting tools, the vendor explained.
Memorial Hermann, a health system in Texas with more than 250 regional locations, is one example of a health system using the Ambra development platform to customize and extend imaging data across other applications. The Ambra developer tools and APIs are helping Memorial Hermann image-enable its Allscripts, eClinicalWorks and Cerner electronic health records applications, enabling users to access imaging data natively in these systems with Ambra serving as a universal viewer, Ambra said. Custom data extractions also are automated, allowing for detailed analytics of their imaging data.
“Imaging doesn't live in a silo and needs to be closely coupled with other applications in the care continuum. Now, providers and other third parties can build from our open system to create new solutions that provide better, more efficient patient care,” said Morris Panner, CEO of Ambra Health.
The launch of Ambra for Developers is part of the company’s continued rapid product development and accelerated growth, the vendor said. Ambra Health recently was named the leader for medical image exchange systems by KLAS for the third year in a row, the vendor added.
