GE Healthcare advancing machine learning, population health, cloud-based imaging at HIMSS17
Heading into HIMSS17, GE Healthcare is developing a range of technologies, from analytics and cloud-based imaging to machine learning.
Building on its GE Health Cloud, in fact, the company is enabling care teams to store, view, analyze and share images in ways they could not before storage and compute power were available in the cloud.
“We’re working at building analytics into every part of our business and applying digital from a horizontal approach across all of GE Healthcare,” GE Healthcare spokeswoman Kelley Sousa said.

Take Project Northstar, for instance. GE’s solution for helping practices transition to value-based care, which was announced last year, combines population health, care delivery, patient engagement and financial management in an integrated, interoperable software solution.
Sousa also pointed to a recent partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital to develop new pediatric brain software the technology company and the hospital plan to take to market. Another partnership – this one with UC San Francisco’s Center for Digital Health Innovation – will develop a library of deep learning algorithms to empower clinicians to make faster and more effective decisions about the diagnosis and management of patients with some of the most common and complex medical conditions.
GE Healthcare is looking to forge more partnerships like those, Sousa said, wherein GE provides software expertise and computing power of the GE Health Cloud, and the partners provide the clinical knowledge. Together they develop digital solutions that can be put on the cloud.
GE Healthcare is in Booth 2943.
HIMSS17 runs from Feb. 19-23, 2017 at the Orange County Convention Center.
