In order for Connected Health to be successful in our healthcare delivery system, three barriers must be addressed. Regulatory and reimbursement complexities need to be reexamined in favor of moving away from fee-for-service to value-based care. Increased risk exposure to security breaches is a major barrier, but device manufacturers and healthcare facility computer network manufacturers need to be involved in reducing the risk, which would make Connected Health easier to implement. Finally, health applications must be interoperable in order for Connected Health to even exist.
