NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital announced the launch of a services suite for its digital health platform, NYP OnDemand, which will broaden the organization’s reach of patient care.

The expansion includes four new telehealth services both for patients and providers on the platform including Digital Second Opinion, Digital Emergency and Urgent Care and Inter-Hospital Digital Consults.

With Digital Second Opinion, specialists from the 1,700 ColumbiaDoctors practice and Weill Cornell Medicine can connect to patients throughout the U.S. According to the announcement, officials hope to advance the platform to a more global reach in the future.

Inter-hospital Digital Consults, meanwhile, connects patients from NYP’s Regional Network Hospitals to NYP specialists with clinical resources and real-time consultations and enables provider-to provider connections to those in the New York metro region.

To combat emergency department overcrowding, Digital Emergency and Urgent Care service offers NYP/Weill Cornell Lisa Perry Emergency Center patients the option of a virtual visit with a clinician after an initial triage, or patients with non-emergency conditions can access virtual urgent care with the NYP OnDemand mobile app.

The fourth service, Digital Follow-Up Appointments, will be added to NYP OnDemand in the Fall to give patients access to an online portal or mobile app for arranging follow-up care.

NewYork-Presbyterian’s Innovation Center developed NYP OnDemand and originally launched the service in 2014.

"We’re looking to redefine the intersection of technology and healthcare,” NewYork-Presbyterian CEO Steven Corwin, MD, said in a statement. “The new digital health platform is our way of strengthening traditional telehealth services.”
