Ascension's St. Vincent Health System saves $5.8 million with ACO, population health programs
Indianapolis-based St. Vincent Health System socked away $5.8 million in 2015 and the network, which is part of the Ascension Health, credits its participation in MissionPoint Health Partners ACO.
The accountable care organization makes it possible for groups of doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers share the financial benefit that comes from improving patient health while reducing costs.
“Our population-health management model is proven to increase total healthy days for our members while also cutting costs,” MissionPoint CEO Jason Dinger said in a statement.
Dinger noted that while other similar companies have reported cost increases of 4-6 percent annually, MissionPoint’s care management model has made it possible for providers to improve care and also reduce costs.
Nashville, Tenn.-based MissionPoint has operations in seven states and serves more than 250,000 people. The company has more 9,200 providers, with more than 2,700 participating providers in the Indianapolis area.
