Black Book Rankings has unveiled its top-ranked EHRs for 2014, revealing the  highest ranking vendors across their respective categories.

They are: Allscripts, Cerner, Epic Systems, GE Healthcare, HCS EMR, Healthcare Management Systems, Healthland, McKesson, MEDITECH, NextGen, Quadramed, Prognosis, RazorInsights and Siemens Medical across the survey acute care subgroups.

For hospitals with fewer than 100 beds, the Mobile, Ala.-based CPSI walked away with the highest award for customer-experience scores. This marks the fourth consecutive year CPSI has ranked as top vendor in this category, Black Book officials say.

Black Book Rankings released its findings on Feb. 28.

Black Book announced these vendors with the highest client experience scores in the areas of certification-required EHR functionalities, administrative & documentation functionalities, clinical workflow functionalities, e-Prescribing modules, accountable care organization data needs and health information exchange enterprises.

"Hospital leaders are seeking empirical data from EHR users to make informed vendor choices, particularly those switching systems or replacing home grown EHRs," said Doug Brown, managing partner of Black Book Rankings, in a statement. "Viable EHR vendors are actively supporting their clients past implementation, and demonstrating best-of-breed technologies through innovative solutions."

Over 22,000 participated in the 2014 polls of EHR client experience in a sweeping five month study. Additionally, 6,000 study participants that have not yet fully implemented enterprise electronic health records provided insight on budgeting, adoption plans, factors driving EHR decisions and vendor awareness.
