Novant Health just became the first organization to receive HIMSS Analytics revalidation for Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards.

“They have made great progress since implementing their EMR and remarkably can show a full return on their IT investments in half the estimated time,” HIMSS Analytics global vice president John Daniels said in a statement.

With clinics located throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, the Epic shop earned revalidation by completing the process between the second year anniversary of being awarded Stage 7 and its expiration.

HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model – EMRAM – in 2011 to evaluate the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals.

HIMSS Analytics introduced its revalidation program nearly a year ago in April 2015. The goal is to ensure the EMRAM continues to reflect industry best practices so that Stage 7 organizations reflect the optimal use and sharing of patient data.

Stage 7 represents the highest level of EMR adoption and indicates a health system’s advanced electronic patient record environment.
