San Francisco Dept. of Health rolls out EHRs to 800 docs
The San Francisco Department of Public Health is launching a two-year EHR roll-out to its employed physicians, in order to help them meet meaningful use requirements.
Officials said the project will include equipping its 800 doctors with electronic medical record and practice management systems from Westborough, Mass.-based eClinicalWorks.
The eClinicalWorks implementation will occur in community and hospital-based primary care and specialty clinics over the next couple years, and will transition the provision of medical care to a platform consistent with the compliance standards for ARRA meaningful use specifications.
"The San Francisco Department of Public Health looks forward to a successful partnership with eClinicalWorks for the implementation of new technology to support the meaningful use of electronic medical records in the ambulatory care setting," said Dave Counter, CIO of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
In addition to systems software and application services provider services, the system will be implemented with an on-site eClinicalWorks technical team, which will work closely with departmental information technology staff to insure a successful installation and effective knowledge transfer for on-going support in the future.
"We are pleased to be working with the San Francisco Department of Public Health," said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. "eClinicalWorks will allow the San Francisco Department of Public Health practices to obtain the quality of care goals that they aim to achieve, through meaningful use and several other initiatives designed to improve patient care. We look forward to working with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to outfit its providers with a system that will help improve patient care."
