Vendor Notebook: Xerox acquires Affiliated Computer Services

Xerox has announced its acquisition of Dallas-based Affiliated Computer Services. This merger will accelerate Xerox's growth in the expanding business process and document management market.



INFINITT North America, the Phillipsburg, NJ-based Web image and information management solution, and peerVue, of Sarasota, Fla., a provider of workflow, quality and communications solutions, announced that they have executed an integration agreement that will enable Infinitt PACS users to launch peerVue qiVue directly from the PACS workstation.

PatientSafe Solutions, Inc., a San Diego-based maker of patient safety products to help eliminate hospital-based medical errors, announced today that it has closed $30 million in Series B-1 financing. The financing was led by TPG Biotech, the leading science-based venture investment arm of the global private equity firm, TPG Capital.

Nuvon, Inc., Bay Area-based providers of biomedical device integration products, announced a partnership with Marlton, NJ's Virtua, a multi-hospital healthcare system, with an aim toward improving the patient experience by better using device connectivity in the clinical environment.

EMSystems, of Milwaukee, has announced that the state of Florida is using its EMTrack and EMResource to communicate and manage resources with healthcare officials to provide medical care to evacuees from the Haiti earthquake.

Ingram Micro, the Santa Ana, Calif.-based the technology sales, marketing and logistics company has announced a distribution relationship with Horsham, Penn.'s NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, which makes electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems.

QuadraMed Corporation of Reston, Virginia, has announced that The Children's Center, a pediatric specialty hospital in Bethany, Oklahoma, has purchased its QCPR electronic health record solution. AssurePoint will also help optimize utilization and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment and clinical devices.

McKesson has announced the release of the latest and fastest versions of its Lytec electronic health record (EHR) and practice management solutions. The updated Lytec MD is a combined CCHIT-certified EHR and practice management system that features Bright Note Technology, a proprietary chart automation function. It also features Lytec Connect, designed to enable the secure electronic delivery of patient data across care settings.

AssistMed, Inc. of Beverly Hills, announced that it has executed an agreement with US Bioservices, a business unit of Valley Forge, Penn.'s AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group, to implement AssistMed's Patient Adherence and Disease Management Solutions.

Wolters Kluwer Health, of the Netherlands, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced that it has released an iPhone/iPod touch optimized mobile website for its industry leading drug information reference, Facts & Comparisons eAnswers. The site, Facts & Comparisons Mobile, was developed in response to customer demand for convenient access to drug information via smart phones.

Akron General Health System has announced a strategic agreement with McKesson, purchasing its Practice Partner, a fully integrated EHR/practice management system that expands the hospital’s ongoing initiative to boost patient safety, improve quality and enhance care coordination among healthcare providers in northeast Ohio.
