Vendor Notebook - IBM to buy National Interest Security Company

IBM, based in Armonk, N.Y., has signed an agreement to acquire the National Interest Security Company, LLC, a developer of business analytics and optimization services for the healthcare sector, among other industries.

First DataBank, a San Francisco-based provider of drug databases, has announced an agreement with Surgical Information Systems, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based provider of perioperative software solutions, whereby First DataBank will license its suite of drug information and associated developer software to SIS to enable the integration of drug screening, dosing and documentation in its solutions.

GetWellNetwork, Inc., based in Bethesda, Md., has released version 3.6 of its interactive patient care system. New or enhanced features include a nursing dashboard, medication teaching, a pain management interface and new patient orientation.

The Kryptiq Corporation of Portland, Ore., has announced that its Connect IQ document management product is now integrated with Dallas-based InDxLogic’s automated document indexing and document and data management capabilities.

Hyland Software of Cleveland has announced the launch of its OnBase enterprise content management solution for MEDITECH users.

The Axolotl Corp. of San Jose, Calif., has announced that the Memorial Healthcare System, based in Hollywood, Fla., has selected the Axolotl Elysium Exchange suite of solutions to power health information exchange across the system’s South Broward County, Fla. network. The company also announced its successful participation in the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) North American Connectathon earlier this month in Chicago.

Carestream Health, Inc., based in Rochester, N.Y., has announced that Long Beach Medical Center in Long Beach, N.Y., will implement the company’s PACS, eHealth Managed Services and Directview CR 975 systems.

GE Healthcare of Barrington, Ill., has announced that Document Storage Systems, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has certified the GE Centricity perioperative anesthesia solution as being capable of integration and compatibility with the VA’s VistA clinical information system.

Picis, Inc., based in Wakefield, Mass., has announced that IB-Salut regional health services in the Spanish Balearic Islands has implemented Picis Critical Care Manager and PACU Manager, part of the company’s CareSuite family of solutions, at Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza. In addition, IB-Salut has extended the software solution at Hospital Comarcal d’Inca and Hospital general Mateu Orfila to include the recovery care areas.

of Bellevue, Wash., has announced that Huntsville Hospital in Alabama has implemented the company’s Sentri7 clinical support solution.

The InterSystems Corporation of Cambridge, Mass., has announced that Oxbow, an InterSystems application partner based in Laramie, Wyo., has introduced the Oxbow EMR system, with the InterSystems CACHE object database as its foundation, designed for primary care practice management.
