Peru hospitals to install HIS to boost quality, efficiency
The International Clinic of Peru will install hospital information systems at two private hospitals and four private healthcare centers in the Lima region.
Australian IT vendor iSoft will deliver the systems as part of a €820K technology collaboration agreement to develop a group-wide electronic patient record.
Improvements to quality and efficiency of services are the focus of the initiative, one hospital official said. "We are very satisfied with having signed with iSOFT this technology collaboration agreement that includes the HIS solution implementation in our healthcare services organization, that allow us to make a big step to guarantee efficiency and quality in our services, consolidating our defined business model," said Michel Macara, managing director of the International Clinic.
iSoft's HIS will provide patient management functions for appointments, admissions, patient discharge, emergency, and diagnostics, and departmental management of pharmacy, radiology, and rehabilitation, a release stated. Additional functions include doctor’s activity plans, ordering of pathology and radiology tests, and invoicing, while the central database will house a unique electronic record for every patient that is updated in real-time and available across the entire group. The International Clinic aims to become the first private hospital group in Peru to achieve these developments.
International Clinic, part of the Brescia Group under major insurance provider RIMAC, is one of Peru's largest private hospital groups.
