Hilo Medical Center gets help implementing an EMR
Hilo Medical Center has signed a multi-year contract with Healthcare Informatics Associates for EMR implementation support.
The Hilo, Hawaii-based medical center is looking to implement the MEDITECH 6.0 EMR in its Eastern Hawaii Region. HIA, based in Hatboro, Pa., had helped the medical center in its search for an appropriate EMR solution that would meet the needs for single patients as well as the electronic capabilities to transfer data to off-island facilities.
“Our goal is for Hilo’s implementation to set the standard for what a state-of-the-art EMR implementation can deliver for a rural hospital – in terms of patient safety, operational efficiency and attracting the best physicians, nurses and professionals to the team,” said HIA President Gerry Barley.
Hilo Medical Center officials narrowed down 24 vendors to six, then chose MEDITECH 6.0. HIA will oversee the implementation of the EMR solution for total system integration. The deployment will be a three-phase process that involves inpatient, advanced clinical support, outpatient clinics and physician offices.
Upon completion of the deployment, all departments will have access to the single source patient record at any location with Web connectivity.
