Medco acquires German pharmacy service

Medco Health Solutions, Inc., a Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based provider of pharmacy benefit management services, is expending its interests overseas with the acquisition of a majority interest Europa Apotheek Venlo, a Germany-based provider of clinical healthcare and mail-order pharmacy services. Medco officials say the acquisition is consistent with the company’s automated central-fill-in services.

Picis adds BI services to perioperative dashboard

Picis, Inc. of Wakefield, Mass. has added business intelligence services to its product with the release of the Picis Perioperative Dashboard, a business activity monitoring solution designed to allow a hospital’s OR to better manage operations and finances. The real-time dashboard provides a snapshot of the surgical department, including case delays, cancellations, quality improvement compliance, patient throughput, documentation status and billing readiness, among other key indicators. The product is available to hospitals using the Picis Total Perioperative Automation Solution – OR Manager, SmarTrack, Preop Manager, Anesthesia Manager and PACU Manager.

Eclipsys installs Sunrise at Cancer Treatment centers

The Eclypsis Corp. of Atlanta has announced the successful implementation of its Eclipsys Sunrise Enterprise solutions at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, including full adoption of computerized physician order entry services through Sunrise Acute Care and Sunrise Knowledge-Based Charting for clinical documentation. CTCA, based in Schaumburg, Ill., offers a network of cancer treatment hospitals and community oncology program in Illinois, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Washington.

SCI releases version 4.0 of order facilitator tool

SCI Solutions of Los Gatos, Calif. has released version 4.0 of its Order Facilitator online order communications tool for healthcare providers. Order Facilitator includes a three-step online workflow for processing physician orders as well as outpatient order entry, integrated medical necessity checking and electronic physician signature, physician-to-physician referrals, FAX ordering and FAX indexing. Through its SaaS delivery model, SCI has converted its hospital and physician clients to the new version.
