IT staffing company Modis recently highlighted which cities it believes are best for finding an IT job. Modis considered a number of factors to generate this seven-city list, including the number of job opportunities over the past quarter, industrial growth, and the level of competition for IT talent in an area. Houston reigned as the top city for finding jobs in IT. As the nerve center for a number of global companies, Houston offers a wealth of IT opportunities - from systems administration to business analysis.
Washington, D.C. placed second on the Modis list. There is a high demand for IT talent in this city, especially among government, financial services, technology, and biotech sectors.

Detroit, Michigan was slotted as the fourth-best city in which to find an IT job. Talent in IT is highly desirable in this area. The field has a positive growth outlook according to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is marked as fifth on the Modis report. Some of the city's largest employers include the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
The city of Edison, New Jersey, holds spot number six on the list of top cities for jobs in IT. Edison is home to the JFK Medical Center, Roosevelt Hospital, and serves as a hub for several growing companies.
Boston, Massachusetts is the seventh-best city in which to find an IT job. Boston is the nucleus for several company headquarters involved in electronics, publishing, and education. The city is also home to numerous universities with strong health and technology centers that require IT talent, including Boston University, Harvard University and Northeastern University, among others.
