Xerox rolls out cloud-based solution for mobile device management
Xerox has long been involved in the mobile device healthcare market, but recently it has launched a new cloud-based solution to help healthcare organizations keep track of mobile devices.
Ken Bradberry, chief technology officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions at Xerox, says the new product, Mobile Device Management and mobility compliance consulting services for healthcare professionals takes the pain out of managing a fleet of mobile devices.
Delivered in a private cloud through a utility-based model, Xerox’s MDM for healthcare allows users to pay only for what they use with no need to invest in extra hardware or software licenses. Xerox configures devices for system access, giving organizations a way to monitor compliance and security policies, and providing a secure site where staff can download approved applications.
To help bolster security and compliance, Xerox’s MDM solution for healthcare allows IT administrators to access a list of devices, mapped to individual employees, to ensure the applications and devices are in compliance and in line with the organization’s policies. If a device is ever lost or stolen, it can be remotely locked or wiped of confidential patient or hospital data, according to Bradberry.
“MDM provides a stable foundation for medical devices to live in,” and the product is “aligned tightly” with the most recent HIPAA regulations. The cloud product allows “flexibility, scalability and virtualization,” Bradberry says.
The new Xerox cloud solution is part of a family of cloud services the company is making available to healthcare providers. “Where we bring real value to the market is not just in mobile device management, but we are very versed in the subject matter, with experts who know how clinical apps work,” Bradberry explains. “We are very much dialed in to having those mobile devices integrated and utilized–to having a very strong technology expertise.”
