While today's HIMSS Virtual Conference and Expo sessions mainly focus on EHR technology and usability, tomorrow's sessions are mostly concerned with... well, tomorrow.

In one of Thursday's 9:00AM CST session, "Using Standard to Get to Meaningful Use: Exchange Basic Records and Meet Early Requirements," attendees may glimpse a brighter future for their bottom line as presenters demonstrate how standards support meaningful use criteria for exchanging basic records prior to EMR adoption.

The HIE theme continues in "Public Health and Support for Meaningful Use in Health Information Exchange," which will list imperatives for public health agencies if they wish to meet the HIE demands they'll face in the near future. This session will be held at 10:30AM CST.

Another morning session will touch on the future of healthcare IT adoption in the context of trial-based research. "Towards a Framework for HIT Adoption: Understanding the Research" begins at 9:00AM CST.

"Workforce Development: An Industry Update," presented by HIMSS Vice President, Professional Development JoAnn Klinedinst, will outline the direction of the healthcare IT industry's workforce development and the initiatives in place to meet rising demands for talent.

An ARRA success story will be shared in the project management session "Managing the Increase in ARRA-Focused Projects" at 11:30AM CST.

In "Health Everywhere," attendees will learn one expert's opinion on existing mobile healthcare technology design, and how design principles can apply to emerging mobile applications.

More discussion of EHR interfaces will start at 11:30AM CST, when "EHR Usability: Pain Points Facing Today's EHR User" kicks off.  Simultaneously, attendees in track three will hear from HIMSS Sr. Director, Privacy & Security Lisa Gallagher on the privacy and security-related requirements, laws and regulations in our healthcare system.
