Tampa General IT has passion for care
IT employees at Tampa General Hospital possess innate factors – a genetic makeup of sorts – that has given the department an edge and the much-coveted human touch, said Chief Technology Officer Balaji Ramadoss.
“We all, as a team, see the end goal being patient care,” Ramadoss said. “You can actually walk into our IT shop and ask people what they do, and the overwhelming answer is going to be that they are in the patient care business.”

The Tampa IT team is predisposed to innovation through the clinical lens, constantly playing on their desire to move healthcare forward with the uniqueness of popular retail products, but with a mind towards medicine.
“There’s this passion to do things better, and this passion to do things that are unique for patient care,” Ramadoss said.
This is what attracts employees to the department. What gets them to stay, though, is a focus on recognition and community. Ramadoss notes that the IT Advisory Group, which is made up of staff at the IT line level, provides a unique bridge between management and the rest of the team and is on hand to deliver feedback on policies and other department decisions.
