The four Main Line Health hospitals are Bryn Mawr, Lankenau, Paoli - all community-based acute care facilities - and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital. The health system includes more than 1,300 physicians and surgeons, and a network of outpatient, home care and long-term care programs.

MobileMD representatives said that the MobileMD HIE utilizes a secure, scalable and flexible infrastructure to provide hospital data feeds to and from disparate physician practice EMR systems. It is a fully outsourced Internet-based ASP.

"Rather than make a purely technology decision, Main Line Health decided to offer its practices connectivity to electronic feeds and a complete support solution that provides the depth and breadth of options and functionality needed to fully support the needs of their physician community," said John Skinner, president of MobileMD.

Skinner said no new hardware or software would be required of the participating physician practices, and the outsourced services would alleviate the need for hospitals to add staffing for HIE delivery and maintenance.

MobileMD currently provides connectivity to 47 hospitals nationwide.
