WESTWOOD, MA – MEDITECH, a 28-year-old vendor of healthcare information systems, has announced that it will be acquiring Patient Care Technologies, Inc. (PtCT), a long-time partner and provider of home care, hospice, telehealth, private duty and benchmarking software.

“We’ve enjoyed a long relationship, including a partial ownership stake, with PtCT since the very beginning of their founding,” said Lawrence A. Polimeno, vice chairman of Westwood, Mass.-based MEDITECH. “Both companies write software using the same technologies, and two members of our board of directors are long-time members of PtCT’s board of directors.”

Based in Atlanta, PtCT, founded in 1991, develops home care industry solutions like Maestro, an enterprise software designed for process management of all facets of home health, hospice and private duty care delivery, and well@home, a telemanagement product that provides education, monitoring services and compliance management features.

“This acquisition is about providing PtCT with both the short-term and long-term resources to allow us to continue to develop and deliver leading-edge software products for home care providers,” said Mark Braunstein, PtCT’s co-founder.

PtCT’s two co-founders, Braunstein and Steve Miller, will remain with the company, which will remain in Atlanta. Miller further said the company would not be merged with MEDITECH.
