Harris Teeter supermarket chain, based in Matthews, N.C>, has implemented an electronic health record to improve prescription accuracy in its pharmacy department.

The new EHR, provided by Florida-based Connectyx Technologies Holding Group, Inc., will be implemented in all 118 Harris Teeter stores across the eastern part of the country. The chain is a subsidiary of the Ruddick Corporation and operates 188 stores in North and South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, and Delaware, as well as multiple stores in the District of Columbia.

"The Harris Teeter chain is very prominent in the southeastern United States. We look forward to rolling out our product to more of their locations in the near future,” said Ronn Schuman, president and CEO of Connetyx Technologies Holding Group, Inc.

“Harris Teeter's customer base will greatly benefit from digitally storing their personal health records on our easy-to-use MedFlash drive, which is so portable it can be kept on a key ring for access whenever and wherever needed."

With the availability of MedFlash for pharmacy customers, Harris Teeter looks to make prescription procedures more efficient. MedFlash is an USB-enabled personal health and lifestyle record allowing for easy patient access to health data. With the drive, a patient can access data from multiple locations, enabling pharmacists the make informed decisions regarding patient prescriptions.

Connectyx Technologies expects this increased availability with patient data to help reduce prescription errors from lack of information.
