The University Hospital of Saint-Étienne, in France, has enlisted Carestream Health to install a CARESTREAM Vue Cloud PACS and Vue Cloud Archive to enable collaboration with nearby healthcare facilities in the region.

Overseeing the project is a control group consisting of public health and medical/social institutions in the West Rhône-Alpes Health District, GIEs, cooperative health groups and non-profit organizations. The purchase of services and equipment for medical image archiving, communication and diagnostic services will allow group members to facilitate collaboration between these institutions and their partners. The group chose cloud-based services to enhance productivity and patient care.

“The first stage of our competitive dialogue aimed at identifying the technical and economic models that we could use in our project,” said Jean-Christophe Bernadac, Information System Manager at the University Hospital of Saint-Étienne. “We had to take into account the requirement for the solution to be shared, regulations on storing personal medical data and the wide ranging needs and equipment levels of our members. We imposed a service level ‘standardization’ so that they could all be included in the pooled solution.”

The three levels of CARESTREAM Vue Cloud Services that will be implemented include:

  • Distribution of images throughout the enterprise, with advanced reading tools to remote radiologists
  • Vendor-neutral long-tern storage with data protection and disaster recovery
  • Full PACS functionality for image review, interpretation and storage
