Epic's plan for the 2023 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition next month is to showcase all the ways the company is helping health systems and other care providers, says Erika Koch, project manager on the company's events team.
In paying homage to its Wisconsin campus in the booth – including some of its artwork and penchant for fireplaces and cozy seating – the goal is to welcome any and all to not only learn about the latest product innovations, but to come and talk to the minds at Epic.
"Folks that swing by our 'home away from home' can chat one-on-one with experts, including developers, product leads and implementers, who work with the software every day," Koch said.
For those who want a glimpse of new features, there will be demos, and for those who are just browsing there will be feature walls, she added.
The booth's feature walls will address how Epic's products and services are helping physicians, nurses and clinicians be more efficient and organizations lower costs, and reducing administrative burden across healthcare.
For each area, attendees can talk to Epic experts, which will number more than 100 overall.
"It's really about the one-on-one – personal conversations based on a person's questions, experiences, challenges or perspective," said Koch.
"They'll be able to have those conversations in depth with an expert."
The anchor exhibitor's new product feature showcase includes generative artificial intelligence capabilities – like the use of GPT to create efficiencies for physicians and operations – and the latest from MyChart, such as two-way texting capabilities.
On the data side, Epic will feature its growing body of work in life sciences and genomics and ongoing Epic Research with Cosmos data, the largest integrated database of clinical information in the United States that releases regular discoveries, such as how high blood pressure after childbirth nearly tripled risk of hospital readmissions for new mothers.
Since Epic's focus on the health grid is about connecting everything that happens outside the hospitals and clinics for comprehensive patient care, Koch said, booth visitors will have the chance to talk big picture or take a deep dive.
Matt Doyle, R&D team lead and software development team leader for interoperability, will be on hand "to talk about all things interoperability," she noted.
Epic will be in Booth 956 at HIMSS23.
