A leading global private healthcare group has confirmed it is “on track” to implement InterSystems TrakCare across all of its United Arab Emirates (UAE) hospitals by the end of Q1 2022.

Mediclinic Middle East (MCME) Group, which is part of the wider Mediclinic International, has just completed the integration of TrakCare in Dubai’s Mediclinic Welcare Hospital. The popular unified healthcare information system (HIE) is now running in six MCME hospitals, amongst 26 of the Group’s sites.

MCME currently runs a total of seven hospitals and “more than” 20 clinics in the UAE.

WHY IT MATTERS

According to the company, adoption of the “Electronic Medical Record [EMR] system complies with Welcare’s strategy for joining the Dubai’s HIE programme, NABIDH, which aims at enabling healthcare professionals to securely access patient medical records from all public and private healthcare facilities in Dubai.”

For clinicians, meanwhile, the adoption of TrakCare reportedly results in a reduction in administrative tasks.

Khalid Hanish, an anesthesiologist at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, explained: “TrakCare is beneficial to patients because I don’t get distracted and can [therefore] concentrate on them. I can finish documentation of the whole anesthetic record in 2-3 minutes.

“This has given me more time and the ability to provide a high quality of care to my patients.”

THE LARGER CONTEXT

In July, InterSystems released its latest version of TrakCare, dubbed T2021, which incorporates “new features inspired by the rapid response of healthcare organisations around the world to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Dimitri Fane, director of product management, stated at the time: “Patients can book appointments and see their care provider from the comfort of their own home, while clinicians can use apps of their choice, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or WeChat, while still using their normal consultation workflows and maintaining access to clinical records.

“The innovation put into T2021 represents the InterSystems commitment to providing powerful, innovative, and easy-to-use tools into the hands of clinicians wherever they provide care in the new era of healthcare.”
