A leading premium healthcare provider in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed the first implementation of a unified healthcare information system in its network.
Following a signing with the Massachusetts-headquartered InterSystems last September, Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres has confirmed that TrakCare as a Service has now gone live in Medcare Hospital Sharjah.
Described as an “advanced unified healthcare information system with secure, high-availability cloud infrastructure,” TrakCare as a Service is fully hosted, delivered, and operated by InterSystems. Ongoing services, such as performance monitoring, is also part of the solution.
“We implemented InterSystems TrakCare to improve the clinical outcomes and patient care delivery, which in return will help us strengthen our patient safety and privacy, patient record availability, and reduce the overall waiting time,” explained Medcare Hospital Sharjah COO, Yehia El Gabbani.
THE LARGER CONTEXT
Following a successful launch at its Sharjah hospital, Medcare is now getting ready to deploy TrakCare as a Service across the rest of its network of four hospitals and 16 medical centres.
Meanwhile, InterSystems states that Trakcare currently serves an estimated “100 million people in 27 countries.”
WHY IT MATTERS
In a statement released by Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, the implementation of TrakCare is part of the organisation’s efforts to “comply with the UAE health authorities’ initiatives for Health Information Exchange – which integrates public and private health systems – so that patient records can be easily shared and accessed by authorised individuals.”
