A new collaboration announced this week between Zocdoc and Elation Health aims to help physician practices and other providers using Elation's electronic health records reach new patients on the Zocdoc marketplace and reduce administrative burden.

WHY IT MATTERS

Through the new partnership, providers’ existing scheduling software integrates with Zocdoc, automatically adding appointments booked online to providers' schedules in their Elation EHRs, according to today's announcement. 

The company says its tool is EHR-agnostic and has completed more than 150 calendar integrations, aggregating real-time medical appointment availability on Zocdoc.com or on the free app. 

“We are supporting a primary care-led future where providers have the choice to maintain their independence, and Zocdoc is an important tool for improving patient access – allowing practices to efficiently reach new patients and maintain schedule density," said Dr. Kyna Fong, cofounder and CEO of Elation Health, in a statement. 

THE LARGER TREND

Zocdoc says patients can find and book appointments across more than 250 specialties and verify and share health insurance information with the doctor as they are booking online or on the Zocdoc app. 

In March, a pregnancy and postpartum care specialist, Zaya Care, joined Zocdoc to reach patients nationwide, becoming the first lactation consultant on the medical appointment booking network.
