DNC: President Obama, Tim Kaine say Hillary Clinton has real plans
President Barack Obama on Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention said progressive policies can make a positive impact on democracy.
“After a century of trying,” Obama said, “we declared that healthcare in America is not a privilege for a few, it is a right for everyone.”
Obama also said that last week at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, the speakers did not present solutions to pressing problems.
“Hillary has real plans to address concerns she’s heard from you on the campaign trail,” Obama continued. “And then there’s Donald Trump. The Donald is not really a plans guy. He’s not really a facts guy, either.”

Hillary Clinton’s Vice Presidential running mate Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, meanwhile, touched on healthcare issues, including the high cost of prescription drugs, how Hillary worked to provide care to first responders after the Sept. 11, 2001 World Trade Center attack and her efforts improve the lives of children and families.
Kaine also touted her plans to build on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, protect Roe v. Wade, guarantee equal pay for women and make paid family medical leave a reality.
“With Hillary, it is not just words, it’s accomplishments,” Kaine said. “She delivers.”
Describing America as “stronger and more prosperous” than it was when he took office, Obama also said he is ready to pass the presidential baton to Hillary.
“Hillary has specific ideas to invest in new jobs, to help workers share in their company’s profits, to help put kids in preschool and put students through college without taking on a ton of debt,” Obama said. “That’s what leaders do.”
