Vietnam has launched its COVID-19 immunisation management platform to aid its mass vaccination drive that just kicked off this month.
The state-run Vietnam News Agency reported that the platform, developed by military-backed telecommunications firm Viettel, comprises four systems: an e-health record app, a COVID-19 vaccination information portal, a national vaccination support system and a response centre.
The news report noted that the system handles registration for COVID-19 immunisation and tracks vaccination records.
This week, the Information and Communications and Health Ministries, together with Viettel, trained more than 600 medical workers across the country to use the vaccination management system.
THE LARGER TREND
Vietnam just started inoculating its citizens with COVID-19 vaccines across 19,500 centres. The Health Ministry targets to vaccinate at least half of Vietnamese citizens aged 18 and above by yearend and over 70% of the population by the end of the first quarter in 2022.
The country already administered 4.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, covering 2.3% of its population, according to Reuters' COVID-19 Tracker.
In other regional news, India recently made its own vaccination platform CoWin (Covid Vaccine Intelligent Network) open-source for use by other nations. The platform enables users to book a vaccination slot, keep track of their country's immunisation drive and download vaccination certificates.
