Srisawan Hospital, a private tertiary healthcare provider in Thailand, is stepping up on its digitalisation efforts to further raise its quality of care provision and hospital experience.
Recently, it signed a memorandum of understanding with GE Healthcare for the deployment of digital solutions for asset management and management of workforce resources. It also partnered with InterSystems for the installation of the TrakCare unified hospital information system at its upcoming Bangkok branch.
WHY IT MATTERS
According to a press release, the GE Healthcare partnership will see the deployment of asset maintenance and management software to simplify the monitoring of patient and examination-related volume trends to optimise productivity, process management, and patient flow.
Another GE Healthcare digital solution will support the management of workforce resources and quality of care, helping reduce error risks and healthcare-related costs in the ICU.
In a separate statement, InterSystems said its TrakCare system will provide a single source of truth for health information with EMR, clinical support, and digital workflows for every department of the forthcoming Srisawan Bangkok branch.
As Srisawan is increasingly incorporating patient engagement in its digital transformation plans, TrakCare will fulfil this by leveraging the InterSystems IRIS for Health data platform to integrate patient engagement applications in the new hospital.
"For example, patients often request additional information from clinicians before signing a consent form. If we provide that digitally – the timing of a procedure or the post-op care plan – we can relieve a bottleneck in the patient experience," explained Srisawan Hospital COO Dr Varis Vimolchalao.
Aside from powering paperless operations, TrakCare will also enable mobile access, executive dashboards, and JCI and HIMSS EMRAM audits.
THE LARGER CONTEXT
Srisawan operates a 200-bed health facility in Nakhon Sawan, a city in lower northern Thailand. It is currently building its first branch in Bangkok, a 60-bed digital hospital that will offer a range of specialty services, including cardiology, oncology and stroke treatment. For this branch, Srisawan seeks to have an upgraded HIS and to implement a complete EMR system to digitise most of its operations.
Meanwhile, the TrakCare implementation is also being planned for its Nakhon Sawan hospital soon.
ON THE RECORD
"Digitalisation is a big part of our growth ambitions, and this collaboration with GE Healthcare will support our digital transformation journey by improving operational decision making, increasing efficiency, optimising infrastructure and reducing waste. This, in turn, can help us generate better outcomes for both clinicians and patients, and deliver more cost-effective healthcare," Dr Siwat Sakdejayont, CMO, and Dr Veerisa Vimonchalao, director of Srisawan Bangkok Ratchaphruek, said in a joint statement on the signing of an MOU with GE Healthcare.
