Sunshine Private Hospital live with Kyra EMR, MedicalDirector

Sunshine Private Hospital in Melbourne's west has gone live with Telstra Health's Kyra Clinical EMR system and MedicalDirector solutions.

Kyra EMR, which provides real-time access to patient information anytime and anywhere, helps streamline care delivery at the newly opened 75-bed facility. It enables a smooth transfer of care, e-referrals, medication management, as well as peer-to-peer communication.

Meanwhile, doctors at Sunshine Private's consulting suite are now using MedicalDirector Clinical as EHR and MedicalDirector Bluechip for practice management.

WA gov't announces funding for phase 1 launch of statewide virtual ED

The Western Australian government has set aside funding to support the first launch phase of the WA Virtual Emergency Department.

This phase, which will focus on senior folks, will expand the trial of virtual and community-based hospital services for residential aged care.

A A$3.4 million ($2.2 million) funding will extend the Community Health in a Virtual Environment pilot while A$3.9 million ($2.6 million) will expand the Geriatric Residential Outreach and other older adult services.

The establishment of the WA Virtual Emergency Department is one of the four major reforms that the WA government is delivering under its latest funding strategy. The other three reforms include the first phase of implementation of the State Health Operations Centre; the introduction of dedicated hospital teams addressing unnecessary discharge delays; and the reduction of long-stay patients awaiting aged care or National Disability Insurance Scheme support.

h-trak system now live at Macquarie University Hospital

Macquarie University Hospital has completed the first phase of implementation of an inventory management solution by healthcare IT provider Prospitalia h-trak.

The h-trak system is now live at the hospital's operating theatres. It includes h-trak's Preference Card management system, which addresses end-to-end processes from patient booking and setup of procedures to the supply chain management and replenishment of critical supplies used in high-cost procedure settings.

This implementation also covers interfaces to the TechOne Enterprise Resource Planning system and the TrakCare EMR.

The h-trak system is slated for a second phase rollout in other departments, including the Angio Suite, Endoscopy and TOE departments. There will be additional integrations to TrakCare EMR to include the electronic upload of implants, and to TechOne to receive Good Receipt Notifications.
