Vendor Notebook: Cerner rolls out solution to improve data security

Cerner, based in Kansas City, Mo., has unveiled the Certify Data Systems HealthDock, an appliance developed with San Jose, Calif.-based Certify Data Systems that’s designed to enable the secure electronic flow of clinical data between hospitals and physician practices regardless of the EHR system being used.

Siemens Healthcare, based in Malvern, Pa., has signed a seven-year agreement with Cape Cod Healthcare in Cape Cod, Mass., to implement the Soarian health information system, including Soarian Financials, Clinicals, Device Connect, Scheduling and Analytics, along with NOVIUS Lab and Radiology, Siemens Pharmacy and Med Administration Check.

Perceptive Software, a Shawnee, Kan.-based developer of enterprise content management software, has announced a global partnership with OB10, a Europe-based e-invoicing provider with an American headquarters in Atlanta. The partnership will integrate Perceptive’s ImageNow workflow solution with OB10’s e-invoicing platform.

Healthland, based in Glenwood, Minn., has announced that the 15-bed Webster County Memorial Hospital in West Virginia will implement the company’s electronic medical records (EMR) system.

Epocrates, Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of clinical information and decision support tools for healthcare professionals, has launched Epocrates Essentials Deluxe, a premium software suite for the iPhone that’s designed to offer reference, diagnosis, decision support and billing information on one platform.

HealthEdge, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of software platforms for healthcare payers, has entered into a partnership with iWay Software, a New York-based provider of enterprise integration tools, that will allow HealthEdge clients to quickly and cost-effectively integrate their internal systems, partner networks and exchanges with the company’s HealthRules product suite.

CDW Healthcare, based in Vernon Hills, Ill., and the Cerner Corporation of Kansas City, Mo., have launched the Tech Rx Transformation Contest, designed to offer physician practices around the country the opportunity to receive an end-to-end electronic health record solution valued at up to $50,000, as well as support services from both companies. The contest, which runs through Jan. 22, 2010, requires physician practices to describe why their practice needs and EHR or practice management system.

D2 Sales, LLC, based in Mequon, Wis., has announced that the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati has completed pilot testing and is rolling out the company’s My Patient Passport Express healthcare check-in kiosk.

The InterSystems Corporation of Cambridge, Mass., has announced that the Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY) has selected the company’s InterSystems HealthShare software platform. HealthShare will be the core health information exchange software for a series of initiatives designed to connect healthcare organizations in 17 northern New York counties that are served by the RHIO.

Amcom Software, based in Minneapolis, has launched Amcom Mobile Connect, a solution designed to enable clinicans and healthcare administrators to use a Blackberry device for all messages, including critical codes.

Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., has announced plans to acquire Andover, Mass.-based Sentillion, Inc., and include the company’s products with its Amalga Unified Intelligence System.

LifePoint Informatics, based in Glen Rock, N.J., is working with the American Medical Association to offer physicians the Lifepoint.WEB clinical order entry and results reporting solutions through the AMA’s new online health information solutions platform.

Picis, Inc., based in Wakefield, Mass., has announced that 67 healthcare facilities, representing more than 2.5 million annual emergency department patient visits, have selected the Picis LYNX E/Point revenue management solution over the past two quarters.

3M Health Information Systems, based in Salt Lake City, has released 3M Mobile Dictation Software, a new application designed to extend 3M’s dictation, transcription and speech recognition solutions to Blackberry and Windows Mobile platforms.
