LAS VEGAS – Healthcare risk adjustment technology vendor Talix announced Monday at HIMSS16 it is partnering with healthcare information technology companies NextGen Healthcare, Allscripts and Capstone Performance Systems to make Talix’s Coding InSight application available through the three companies’ respective offerings.

With Coding InSight, healthcare organizations using NextGen, Allscripts and Capstone systems and services will be able to integrate risk adjustment processes for patients in Medicare Advantage and Commercial Exchange plans at the point of care. The application enables providers to identify and close coding gaps so they can better manage patient risk, deliver improved care planning and successfully optimize risk-based reimbursements, Talix said.

Coding InSight works on Talix’s HealthData Engine patient analytics platform and combines proprietary natural language processing technology, a clinical rules engine and a comprehensive medical taxonomy to analyze structured and unstructured patient data from disparate sources to uncover missed coding opportunities, the vendor explained.

“Our partnerships with NextGen, Allscripts and Capstone will advance our shared goal of enabling healthcare providers to optimize patient risk and risk-based reimbursements by making the coding process simpler, more accurate and more efficient,” said Dean Stephens, CEO of Talix. “Coding InSight’s seamless integration into the user’s workflow at the point of care means clinicians will benefit from accurate coding in real time, allowing for improved care delivery and patient outcomes.”

NextGen Healthcare is offering Coding InSight through its Electronic Data Interchange solution. NextGen EDI is integrated with the company’s ambulatory electronic health records system to provide its clients, who increasingly are moving to risk-based contracts, with a risk adjustment solution to enable them to effectively manage their patient population, streamline patient care and succeed in risk-based contracts, the vendors said.

Through the Allscripts Developer Program, Coding InSight can be integrated into the Allscripts EHR using the Allscripts Open API. Allscripts clients will be able to access the application through the Allscripts Application Store, giving them the ability to optimize patient risk scores and associated reimbursements, all while ensuring sufficient documentation for Risk Adjusted Data Validation audits, the vendors said.

Capstone Performance Systems will offer Coding InSight to healthcare organizations participating in the Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly, Accountable Care Organizations and similar programs. Capstone also will use Coding InSight internally to augment the delivery of its Medicare risk adjustment services portfolio, including outsourced coding and chart audits, the vendors said.
