A new Web site uses social networking to inform physicians and nurses when new jobs have been posted.

Locum Leaders, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based recruiting firm specializing in physician and CRNA temporary staffing known as locum tenen, launched the social media site, called Locum Link.

Officials say the Locum Link portal offers a new twist on traditional medical recruiting and reflects a growing interest among healthcare providers in social media. In a recent Locum Leaders survey of physicians and CRNAs, 56 percent said they participated in or were interested in social networks and 37 percent said they belonged to Facebook.

Locum LInk uses Facebook and Twitter to provide healthcare professionals with access to real-time job updates. The site also provides travel, finance and technology blogs, advice on job placement and medical education and clinical updates from QuantiaMD, an interactive clinician community offering online and mobile multimedia content.

"We're committed to building relationships with our physician and nurse job seekers. We view social media and online communities, like Facebook, as important tools that strengthen and add value to these relationships," said Will Drescher, CEO of Locum Leaders. "The Locum Link area of our wWeb site also enables peer-to-peer communication so our locum tenens providers can share their common experiences with one another."
