The Medical Group Management Association on Friday announced that Halee S. Fischer-Wright, MD, will be its new president and CEO, taking the reins of the medical practice organization on March 23.
Fischer-Wright currently serves as chief medical office at Westminster, Colo.-based St. Anthony North Health Campus, part of the Centura Health System.
She started her own successful medical practice early in her career, has spent time as a management consultant, and served as president of the 680-physician Rose Medical Group in Denver for a dozen years, according to MGMA officials.
Fischer-Wright also co-authored the New York Times best-selling book, Tribal Leadership.
“Dr. Fischer-Wright’s unique expertise and experience from working in both clinical and administrative roles will be critical in helping MGMA members prepare for value based payments and leverage the full clinical and operational power of their practices to enhance patient care in their practices and position them for this success,” said MGMA Board Chair Debra J. Wiggs, in a press statement. "We know that she will inspire MGMA members to consider new and innovative ways to run their organizations and serve patients,"
“I am awed and inspired by the power of the national voice of 33,000 MGMA members, participating in groups of all sizes, specialties and their ability to lead high performance medical practices that elevate patient care, despite the overwhelming velocity of change in healthcare,” said Fischer-Wright in a statement.
