Networking at HIMSS16: After hours receptions, parties and live entertainment

Here is a partial list of networking events taking place in the evening hours.

After a long day of education, HIMSS attendees have been known to seek out less formal settings for talk and refreshment. The following events will take place after the day’s educational sessions have wrapped. The first group of events are organized in conjunction with the conference. The second group were submitted by HIMSS16 exhibitors and are not officially connected with HIMSS. The third group are entertainment options that have absolutely no connection with HIMSS attendees.

HIMSS Events: Monday, February 29

HIMSS16 Opening Reception. Get your first glance at the Exhibit Hall and mingle with fellow attendees. Free wine and cheese. Exhibit Hall G, 7 – 8 p.m.

HIMSS Events: Tuesday, March 1

Canadian Reception @ HIMSS. The signature social Event for Canadians and their guests attending HIMSS. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. No charge but registration required. Dal Toro, Palazzo Hotel, 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Chapter Receptions. Local HIMSS chapters are hosting receptions to bring together neighbors. Southern California, New England, Georgia and Northern California, Tuesday, March 1, 4:30 p.m. Minnesota, Arizona, Iowa, Colorado and Tennessee, March 1, 6:00 p.m. Upper Great Plains, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, 6:30 p.m. Click here for more details.

Women in HIT Networking Reception. A chance for female colleagues to enjoy Madame Tussauds famous wax museum with cocktails, networking and photo opportunities (selfies with the stars anyone?). Expected to sell out early. 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Madame Tussauds @ The Venetian. $45 registration fee. SOLD OUT

HIMSS Events: Wednesday, March 2

Millennials on a Mission: Future Leaders of Health IT Reception. Cocktails, cutting edge conversation, and a photo booth. An opportunity for Millennials (anyone born between 1980 and 2000), to network with the future leaders and innovators, in a relaxed social forum for networking. The Label Lounge at the Palazzo. 6:30- 7:30 p.m. $20 fee; registration required.

Chapter Receptions. Local HIMSS chapters are hosting receptions to bring together neighbors. Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia and W. Virginia at 4:30 p.m. Chicago, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi at 7:00 p.m. Texas at 7:30 p.m. Click here for more details.

Long Term / Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) Reception. Meet others invested in the delivery of long term / post-acute care services, 6 – 7:30 p.m. Bellini 2005. Advance registration required.

NHIT Collaborative Networking Reception. The inaugural reception hosted by the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved, a public/private partnership event invites participants focusing on health IT that serve underserved and safety net communities. 6 - 8 p.m., Bellini 2103. Registration required.

Physician Community Reception. Network with health IT and medical professionals and learn more about the Physician Community’s activities and education offerings. Refreshments will be served. 2 – 3 p.m., Bellini 2104

Tele-tinis with American Well HIMSS Happy Hour. Come for a martini, get telehealth straight up. Make a slow motion video at the American Well booth, with a twist. 4 p.m., Booth #2154. Free; registration required.

Learn about HIMSS Chapters, Communities, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), Fellows, Committees, Task Forces, Emerging Professionals and more during this casual and informative open house. HIMSS Award Gala. A semi-formal affair where members are recognized for "significant contributions" to healthcare IT. Black tie optional; $150/person. Registration required. 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Wynn Hotel, Latour Ballroom.
