Konica Minolta launches telemedicine pilot with SnapMD
Konica Minolta Business Innovation Center, a division of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT vendor Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA, is launching a telemedicine pilot that will use the SnapMD telemedicine platform to offer file and multi-screen share and increased collaboration between patients and teams of providers.
The company also said it is in discussions with 30 U.S. health systems to participate in the pilot.
The telemedicine pilot will incorporate general care as well as a wide variety of specialties, though Konica Minolta singles out urgent care and care of the chronically ill as areas that offer great opportunity.
“The center’s telemedicine pilot harnesses an award-winning platform to expand quality healthcare solutions,” said Ekta Sahasi, vice president of the Konica Minolta Business Innovation Center in North America. “Our customer Healthcare Advisory Council provided essential feedback on our opportunity to make a valuable impact in this game-changing industry.”
Telemedicine can be used to expand traditional communication methods and interactions – for patients, getting expert medical advice through telemedicine requires a minimum of a smartphone or tablet with an Internet connection, Konica Minolta said.
