Intermountain Healthcare names Robert Allen as COO

The 22-year Intermountain executive will replace outgoing chief operating officer Laura Kaiser.

Intermountain Healthcare has appointed Robert Allen as its chief operating officer.

Allen, who is currently vice president of clinical and outreach services at Intermountain and will serve on Intermountain’s management committee, Allen will report to Intermountain President and CEO Marc Harrison, MD.

Beginning April 1, Allen will lead a team of regional vice presidents and key leaders focused on healthcare delivery across Intermountain. He succeeds Laura Kaiser, who is leaving Intermountain to take the position of president and CEO of SSM Health in St. Louis, Mo.

“Rob brings vast experience as a healthcare leader,” Harrison said in a statement. “Besides his more than 22 years of service at Intermountain, he has held leadership positions at healthcare organizations in Colorado, Wyoming, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.”

At Intermountain Allen’s responsibilities have included not only hospitals but also outreach, telehealth, the Life Flight network, home care, clinical support services and environment of care services.
