The Health Resources and Services Administration allocated $3 million for new grants to help community health centers implement and meaningfully use IT. 

HRSA administrator Mary Wakefield said that the “investments help advance critical health information technology adoption in more than 100 health centers through the U.S. and provide patients access to higher quality care,” in an August 1 news release.

The new grants, funded by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, will be distributed among six health networks that reach more than 100 health centers nationwide to drive data sharing, as well as clinical, operational, and quality improvements, HRSA explained.

Grantees are:

• Community Health Centers Alliance in St. Petersburg, Fla.,
• Georgia Association for Primary Health Care in Decatur, Mass.
• League of Community Health Centers in Boston,
• North Carolina Community Health Center Association in Raleigh,
• Health Center Network of New York, and
• Public Health Management Corp, in Philadelphia.

HRSA’s latest grants add to the $18 million previously granted to health centers in December 2012.
