While Google has long been at the forefront of innovation, healthcare organizations are increasingly looking to Google Cloud for secure public health information and interoperability solutions, according to Joe Corkery, who leads the Google Cloud and Health & Life Sciences product team.

“We’re seeing more and more healthcare organizations which want to work with us on solutions on security and interoperability at the forefront,” Corkery said.

To that end, the vendor will present several sessions on those and other topics at the Google Cloud booth during HIMSS18.

High profile security breaches, ransomware attacks and increasing regulations are moving many organizations to the cloud for security.

Corkery will speak on healthcare cybersecurity using Google Cloud, from 10 to 10:20 a.m. March 7 at Booth 9900.

Gregory Moore, vice president of Healthcare for Google Cloud, will explore building a healthier future with machine learning and the cloud from 10 to 11 a.m March 7 in Palazzo K.

Aashima Gupta, the global head of healthcare solutions for the Google Cloud Platform is holding several sessions on using tools and products to get inside the data and mine it for meaningful insight.

With Beth Meese, executive director of Emerging Clinical Solutions for the Cleveland Clinic, Anne Beal, chief patient officer at Sanofi and Leslie Evans, director of the HIMSS Innovation Center, Gupta will discuss connecting the dots with application programming interface, or API, during a Women in Tech panel from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. March 8 at Hall G Booth 11955ET.

The session will address accelerating innovation and interoperability across the healthcare spectrum.

Gupta is also speaking about “Innovation at Work: Transformation in Healthcare,” from 1:30 to 1:50 p.m. at Booth 9900. This will address harnessing data and learning strategies for establishing a new type of connected health platform through the Google Cloud.

Google Cloud has two booths, one on the exhibit floor and another in the HIMSS Innovation Lab.

A Developer Innovation Lab kickoff event will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Booth 9900, where Gupta and Adam Culbertson, an Innovator in Residence for HIMSS North America, will speak.

The Innovation Lab brings together the brightest minds under one roof to offer best practices and machine learning solutions, Gupta said.

Gupta, Culbertson and Aneesh Chopra, president of CareJourney, will talk about APIs and the future of interoperability, from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. March 6 at Booth 9900. This will address application programming, interface best practices, API gateways for data retrieval and future implications for interoperability through APIs.

And of course, long-time Google and Alphabet Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, who is now a Technical Advisor to the company, will be delivering the opening keynote at HIMSS18 at 5 p.m. March 5.

Google Cloud will be in Booth 2829.
