LAS VEGAS -- DataMotion Health, a secure health information communication vendor, announced at HIMSS16 on Monday an enhanced version of its primary platform that’s designed to enable easy collaboration across the care continuum and empower patients to active participants in healthcare. The cloud-based DataMotion Health platform offers a set of services for connecting and delivering protected health information securely and efficiently.

At HIMSS16, DataMotion is unveiling enhancements in key areas including patient consent tracking, identity validation and authentication, workflow integration, and mobile case management, so the system ensures information delivery where, when and how care teams want and need it. The enhancements also introduce ways for provider organizations to enable greater patient engagement.

“Successfully sharing information is at the heart of all major healthcare initiatives – from patient engagement and population health to increased data security and payment reform – and it requires effective collaboration between all members of the care team and the patient,” said Bob Janacek, chief technology officer and co-founder of DataMotion Health. “To be successful, information – independent of size, structured or unstructured – must be easily exchanged in a manner that’s HIPAA-compliant and in the right format. These are practical business demands we’ve overcome for healthcare organizations, not simply to increase their efficiency and reduce costs, but to improve care and empower patients like never before.”

DataMotion Health is showcasing its platform at HIMSS16 in its exhibit hall booth (#12144). The enhanced platform version will be generally available Q2 2016, with services prototyping available immediately for developers.

The DataMotion Health platform delivers integrated and standalone services, including direct messaging services, electronic health records connectivity and MU2 certification, secure e-mail, secure image and file transfer services, mobile app messaging, patient enrollment services, ID validation services, insurance member messaging, healthcare provider directory services and more.

New to the platform are major enhancements in patient consent, identity validation and authentication, workflow integration, direct/fax service integration, and mobile case management. Hackensack University Medical Center is one of DataMotion’s first clients to use the enhanced offerings. The health system has used the DataMotion Health platform to enhance its mobile app to include patient self-enrollment with multi-factor identity validation, DataMotion Health said.

“The push in healthcare is to produce better outcomes and bring costs under control; at the same time, patients are tired of a system that can be so confusing,” said Shafiq Rab, MD, HackensackUMC vice president and CIO. “These complexities can be overcome by giving patients access to their data and the ability to communicate directly with providers. We’ve been a DataMotion customer and know the power of their platform. Together, we’ve created an app that empowers the patient and makes our workflows more efficient. It leverages the platform to automate enrollment, track consent and connect the patient to their care team. This is the future of healthcare.”
